| HOW DID THE PLAGUE IMPACT ON HYMN WRITERS? |
I have just read a fascinating and horrifying SciFi book on the Plague or Black Death in the late 1340's (Doomsday Book by Connie Willis 1992 ISBN 0-450-57986-7) As a result I wondered how many hymn writers might have died of the plague.
I looked at hymn writers who lived before, during and after the plague and found that there was only one writer living at that time, Johannes Tauler, and he survived! There is a noticable shortage of hymn writers in the 14th century over that period!
